Replies 5. Very normal reaction. XP did the same thing as did If you were using those characters in the user names then that is normal. As windows has those characters reserved for other OS functions. This has been true since DOS.
I guess I should have stated the obvious. I was not using any of the forbidden characters. I know the collection of characters that I first listed are not legitimate in user names. For example, I typed in: Margaret and recieved the message.
I typed in: Joseph and got the message.
